Frequently asked questions

Explore common queries and their answers before you begin your guitar lessons

How do I book lessons?

Just get in touch to arrange a regular weekly slot. Lessons run on a consistent schedule so you always have the same time each week and usually take place on Fridays and Saturdays.

How does payment work?

Lessons are paid monthly in advance. You’ll receive an invoice before the start of each month, and payment secures your lesson slot. Payment is made by bank transfer or cash.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

That’s absolutely fine, things do happen. Hannah just asks for at least 24 hours’ notice. This gives her time to offer the slot to someone else.

What happens if I cancel late or miss a lesson?

Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed lessons, are charged in full. This helps keep things fair and consistent for everyone.

What if you need to cancel a lesson?

If I ever need to cancel, you’ll receive a lesson credit on your next invoice. I’ll always give as much notice as possible.

Do lessons run during school holidays?

Yes, lessons run year-round, including school holidays. If there are any planned breaks, you’ll be told well in advance.

What should I bring to lessons?

Just bring your guitar and anything you’ve been working on. If you don’t have an instrument yet, Hannah can help you get started, including loan equipment options. Get in touch if you need to borrow some equipment or are unsure what to buy.

Where do lessons take place?

Lessons take place in Hannah's living room, located in Derwenthorpe in York. Parents are always welcome to sit in if they’d like.

How much practice is expected?

Hannah usually recommends around 20 minutes, 3 times a week. But this is flexible. We’ll always adapt practice to feel manageable and realistic for you.

What if I don't have much time to practice?

That’s okay. Hannah keeps things simple so even small amounts of practice can still lead to progress. Consistency matters more than doing lots.
